Cardiff Youth Service are seeking to recruit Youth Development Officers to lead, manage and develop our Locality Youth Work model.

We are committed to developing an evidential basis for Youth Work to thrive in the communities of Cardiff. Demonstrating impact and showcasing the positive journeys of young people is essential. We have actively embraced technology and understanding the various safe spaces that young people inhabit is an essential part of our work.

Cardiff Youth Service is a forward-thinking organisation that is looking to continue to set standards in Youth Work practice and co-produce Youth Work programmes with young people. We will seek to develop young people's capacity to engage in a variety of services and establish governance structures where young people become active citizens shaping the service, provision, programmes and projects that they participate in.

This is an exciting time to join Cardiff Council Youth Service with an opportunity to develop a service that can support young people and provide provision that is innovative and creative, placing young people at the centre of its development. We are looking for strength based professionally qualified and registered Youth Workers who are keen to be at the forefront of Youth Work practice. We support the learning and development of individuals through leadership and management development opportunities whilst actively involving staff in learning, coaching and mentoring that enables the continuous professional development of the service.

Cardiff Youth Service are seeking to establish locality teams to support Youth Work and Wider Youth Support Services within the communities of Cardiff. The new structure seeks to create a locality model that is built on partnership working and collaborative practice. You will manage a team of professionally qualified and registered Youth Work professionals who will deliver needs led Youth Work programmes. These will include open access youth club sessions, Street-based youth work sessions curriculum-based projects and programmes as well as targeted support for young people one to one.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the service which puts the individual at the heart of our work. You will be a lead practitioner and set standards for Youth Work practice. You will form part of an extended Youth Service management team taking strategic responsibility for developing policy and practice. The development of sustainable networks will be a key consideration and you will be representing the service on key cross-cutting policy areas.

As the Youth Development Officer you will have the opportunity to develop the practice of others within the team through joint working and supervision whilst also leading by example as a lead Youth Work practitioner. You will set up and co-ordinate quality assurance procedures and involve young people in decision making throughout the team.
What We Are Looking For From You
The successful candidates will have the passion and drive to delivering an excellent sustainable service to our young people, communities and wider service partners. The successful candidates will have a proven track record of leading and managing teams and achieving outcomes for young people and communities. You will have the ability to manage budgets and add value by seeking additional support by partners and attracting investment through social value and external funding initiatives. You will have co-produced work with young people as well as developing a flexible approach to supporting young people's needs.

You will become part of the Youth Service management team and have an active role in improving collaborative working and developing a 21 st century Youth Work workforce and constructing a new Youth Work strategy for Cardiff.
