Several exciting opportunities are now available at Cardiff and Vale College for Progress Coaches to begin at the start of the 2024-2025 Academic Year. Our Progress Coaches are responsible for supporting learners in a pastoral role, supporting target setting, motivation and attitude to learning; supporting the personal learner journey.

Additionally, you will:
• Support learners towards achieving their goals, ensuring they are being prepared for the next stage of education, training or employment and that high quality destinations are being accessed.
• Effectively address learner issues and concerns, including those related to attendance, punctuality, motivation and attitude to learning, to promote a positive and caring culture.
• Conduct one-to-one meetings with all allocated learners throughout the academic year, deploying appropriate interventions and target setting to address underperformance. A key focus will be on chasing up attendance, communicating with parents/advocates and completing ILPs, Mark book and other learner focused activities.
• Ensure the timely completion of any tasks expected of the role through effective time management.
• Deliver high quality personal development sessions, which support the development of skills and behaviours to support progression to high quality destinations.
• Ensure all learners make effective use of the Personal Tutorial curriculum, completing activities and attending sessions linked to their personal learner journey.
• Support Learner Voice activity, ensuring learners participate in Learner Voice processes. Ensure each course has a course representative and they have the opportunity to carry out their duties both within the class and at learner voice events where appropriate.
• Address learner behaviour concerns in a timely manner in accordance with college policies and procedures, deploying appropriate interventions and recording actions taken.

Specifically, we are looking for Progress Coaches who can demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for supporting learners within the following departments: Hair Beauty & Hospitality, Aerospace, Construction, Engineering and Automotive. In your supporting statement you should outline how you can support learners in one or more of these areas.

You will embrace our CAVC values and be Inspirational, Inclusive, and Influential towards our learners, colleagues and partners.

Whilst the ability to speak Welsh is not essential for the role, we would love to hear from candidates who are fluent and can engage with learners through the medium of Welsh.

In return for your hard work and dedication to our learners we offer fantastic benefits including a generous pension scheme, cash health plan, employee assistance programme, access to our Cycle to Work, Headspace app and access to money saving benefits through our Reward Gateway scheme.
