Hospitality Technician

Cardiff and Vale College
An exciting vacancy is available as a Hospitality Technician in the Hospitality department at Cardiff and the Vale College. This post will be based across campuses.

Responsibilities include:

  • To assist lecturing staff in the preparation of equipment and products for theoretical and practical lessons.
  • In liaison with the Senior Technician, to be responsible for maintaining accurate financial transactions and necessary records for the restaurant's income and expenditure, for audit purposes, in line with the College's financial regulations.
  • To maintain hygienic and safe standards of the practical work areas. To ensure that the practical areas are maintained in a clean and orderly condition at all times.
  • To co-operate closely with the members of the teaching staff at all times in order to provide the necessary 'back-up' service and effective general organisation of students' practical tasks.
  • To maintain strict control and security over all restaurant's resources including food and alcoholic beverages, cleaning materials, equipment and departmental facilities.
  • To collate weekly food orders for the restaurant from members of the teaching staff and to prepare written orders for specified suppliers, ensuring supplies arrive at the required time for practical classes.
  • To order food and beverages for the restaurant and to check delivery of these items in line with equality legislation and the College's financial regulations. This includes the checking of delivery notes and food items for number, type, weight, quality and quantity, as applicable.
  • To ensure food, beverages and other resources are stored correctly e.g. freezer, refrigerator, dry goods and cleaning materials
  • Welsh language skills are not essential but would be desirable for this role.
