Working as a valued member of support staff at Croesyceiliog, this role is pivotal to improving the literacy levels of students.

Reporting to, and working closely with the Head of Literacy the successful candidate will have their own room on the second floor of the main building.

We seek an enthusiastic and dedicated colleague to join us. The right candidate will be expected to work on their own initiative as well as a part of a team. They will have strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. The workload is varied, and the ability to prioritize is key.

Roles and responsibilities include: -
  • Contributing to planning, preparing and delivery of agreed intervention lessons including spelling, reading, writing and handwriting to individuals or groups of pupils.
  • Advancing pupils learning in a range of classroom settings, including working with whole classes where the assigned teacher is not present.
  • Promoting the inclusion of all pupils, ensuring they have equal opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.

The successful candidate will be someone with knowledge and understanding of teaching intervention lessons. They should have very good literacy skills, good communication skills and the ability to deal with a range of people. They will be able to work calmly under pressure and thrive in a busy working environment.

They will have relevant experience of working with ALN pupils and will learn how to use programmes such as Accelerated Reader.

As a new member of the team the successful candidate will complete an induction programme and receive job-related training.
