Role Title: Examinations and Awarding Bodies Operations Manager

Location: Deeside (with the ability to travel across all sites)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

Coleg Cambria is seeking a dedicated and experienced Examinations and Awarding Bodies Operations Manager to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient planning and coordination of all examinations and assessments across the college, adhering to the standards set by awarding bodies and The Joint Education Committee (JCQ). The successful candidate will act on behalf of the college in all matters relating to the administration of awarding body examinations and assessments, ensuring that learners receive an excellent examination experience and reach their full potential.

As the Examinations and Awarding Bodies Operations Manager, you will provide a responsive and comprehensive service to awarding bodies, staff, learners, and other stakeholders regarding all college examinations. You will manage all queries and requests efficiently, maintaining high standards to uphold the college's reputation in the education sector. Additionally, you will ensure that all learners are registered, entered, and certificated in accordance with awarding body regulations.

You will lead the Examinations team, responding to the current priorities and delivery needs across the college. Key responsibilities include overseeing JCQ Centre Inspections, developing and promoting examination policies and procedures, and representing the college on external committees. Regular training and support for staff, stakeholders, and invigilators to ensure JCQ compliance is essential.

In this role, you will manage the secure storage of confidential examination materials, ensure effective communication and customer service, and work collaboratively with managers across the college. You will also develop departmental targets and key performance indicators aligned with the college's strategic aims. Supporting the Head of Information Systems in achieving departmental objectives and leading and managing direct reports through recruitment, induction, performance management, and staff development is required.

Special features of the role include the ability to work flexible hours, travel across multiple sites as needed, and participate in the Colleges Wales Network for Exam Officers/Managers. Essential Requirements
  • Educated to a minimum Level 4 qualification
  • Level 4/5 Management qualification
  • Previous experience of / or the ability to lead, coach and inspire a team
  • Comprehensive knowledge of The Joint Education Committee and Examination Awarding Bodies
  • Knowledge and understanding of developing and implementing examinations policies / strategies

Welsh language skills are desirable for this position.
