Community Coach - Eastern High (12399) - FTC until April 2025

Cardiff and Vale College
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Coach at Eastern High School. The post holder will proactively engage with, support and maintain relationships with the local community and act as a link between Eastern High school and CAVC.

The post holder will be based at Eastern High community college and within the community four days a week and attend our main Dumballs Road Campus 1 day per week. They will need to have the ability to work both in a team setting and also on their own to support the community and students through appropriate and targeted interventions.

Working collaboratively with the family liaison officer at Eastern High, cross-college support, and external partners agencies this role will focus on improving community engagement, growing the adult learning provision and creating new provision/ opportunities for children, young people and adults. The successful candidate will also support with pastoral concerns or questions on site and act as a liaison between the college, school and wider community.

Additionally, you will:

  • Develop person centred strategies to grow and develop community links.
  • Link with cluster community school liaison officers to continue to build on community engagement in school.
  • Link with the family liaison officer based at Eastern High to better understand the needs and interests of families in the community.
  • Planning and facilitating activities designed to not only re-engage and motivate learners, but also address identified needs.
  • Promote adult learning courses to parents and the community. Understand what adult learning courses are needed and how to best facilitate these.


Whilst the ability to speak Welsh is not essential for the role, we would love to hear from candidates who are fluent and can engage with learners through the medium of Welsh.
