Job description
Main Purpose of Post:
To become qualified in Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development:
Practice and Theory.
To assist in the development and delivery of a high quality Flying Start childcare provision.
Principal Responsibilities:
The following outlines the main responsibilities of the role which will be undertaken with the support of a Supervisor and mentor(s):
1. Assist Setting Leader in the planning, review and delivery of good quality play based experiences
2. Contribute to providing a warm and welcoming environment within the setting where children and carers can feel valued
3. Discuss and interact with children, modeling appropriate language to support children's speech, language and communication development
4. Encourage the development of early thinking and problem solving skills through modelling sustained shared thinking practice
5. Provide children with support as directed by Setting Leader - could include reading a story or helping with physical difficulties whilst encouraging independence (e.g. with personal cleanliness, putting on shoes etc).
6. Provide comfort as appropriate and arrange immediate care for
minor accidents, upsets and ailments and report serious problems
and perceived instances of danger or risk to health to the Setting
Leader.
7. Assist in day-to-day management of the learning environment.
8. Contribute to record-keeping - e.g. provide relevant verbal
information to contribute to the planning, observation, evaluation
and identifying the next step in the children's learning.
9. Provide feedback to the Setting Leader about the learning
experiences, responses to them and the supported provided.
10.Model positive behaviour management strategies based on the
Incredible Years programme.
11.Undertake routine administrative tasks.
