Required from January 2025, or earlier if possible, a permanent, full-time, excellent classroom practitioner and inspiring and enthusiastic leader to lead the Mathematics Department in Glan Y Mor across the age and ability range. Glan Y Mor is a forward-looking school that has embraced the New Curriculum for some time and therefore this is an opportunity for an innovative and creative leader and teacher to lead the department at this exciting time.
We are looking for a well-qualified, inspirational and motivated Head of Mathematics who is keen to lead a dedicated and enthusiastic team. This is an exceptional opportunity for either an outstanding teacher seeking the challenge of leading a department, or for a proven leader, to work in an environment that prides itself on working collaboratively to maximize the potential of all its pupils. The successful candidate would be expected to bring an innovative, dynamic and ambitious approach to the department and must demonstrate:
- A successful track record of teaching Mathematics at GCSE
- Strong leadership and motivational skills
- The ability to maximise resources and to develop strategies for promoting effective teaching and learning
- Evidence of raising achievement
- A capacity for hard work and performance under pressure
The primary role of the head of department is to provide a strategic vision, and secure commitment to both school and department values. Candidates should thrive on the development and leadership opportunities presented, be an outstanding classroom practitioner and consistently demonstrate the highest standards of delivery. The School is committed to raising attainment across all key stages and successful applicants need to champion this ethos and demonstrate a sound understanding of the strategies required to achieve this. Glan-y-Môr and Bryngwyn School are part of a federation that strives to develop excellent standards and opportunities for all its pupils.
