Teacher to commence November 2024 - Maternity Cover
Ysgol Penmaes is a special school that provides education for 112 pupils aged from 3 to 19 years.
The school is situated in Brecon and maintained by Powys local authority. The school caters for pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties. These include severe learning difficulties (SLD), autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). All pupils have a Statement of Special Educational Needs or an Individual Development Plan. As well as the provision in our main school we opened a satellite provision in Crossgates, Llandrindod Wells, in September 2021. The school is committed to providing a highly individualised and inclusive education to all its pupils, with an emphasis upon meeting their individual needs and developing their strengths and interests within a supportive and caring environment. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher who is passionate about working within the field of special educational needs (SEN) The post
itself is maternity over commencing November 2024. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a highly effective school. The successful candidate will need to be motivated,
innovative, flexible and have a proven track record of working with children with a wide range of complex needs. The candidate will have a passion for developing and extending potential in both our
pupils and staff team by recognising and nurturing individual qualities and strengths.
Pupils are looking to appoint a teacher who is:

Governors are looking to appoint a teacher who:

The Headteacher is looking to appoint a teacher who can:
● lead, develop and enhance teaching and learning in the school whilst inspiring pupils and staff.

● raise standards and strive to act on school improvement priorities
● adhere to policy and practice

The teacher appointed will need to have substantial experience in working with pupils with a wide range of additional learning needs within specialist settings. As part of the role the successful
candidate will be expected to lead an area(s) of learning and experience (as detailed in the new Curriculum for Wales). Candidates should clearly note their areas of strength in their letter of application.
