Job Description
Purpose of the post

Main duties
• Leader in Charge to present projects and activities for young people in their communities.
• Ensure that young people feel safe, receive support, are appreciated, learn how to take control over their lives and identify and oppose harmful influences that may impact them.
• Assist the Youth Worker to identify the interests and needs of young people in order to develop sessions and projects and organise events and activities.
• Assist the Youth Worker to offer a range of learning experiences for young people using informal youth work methods, within communities, that are suitable for young people
• Assist the Youth Worker to present courses that lead to accreditation (Agored Cymru, ASDAN Youth Challenge and Achievement Schemes, Children's University)
• Adhere to all the employer's relevant policies and other statutory requirements, including Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Child Protection.
• Input required information needed about young people in the information gathering system
• Ensure that the Young Person's voice is heard in everything that is offered and developed
• Attend staff meetings as required
• Attend training for youth workers organised by or on behalf of the Council
• Responsibility for self-development.

Employment: JNC for Youth and Community Workers Points 5 - 9
Annual Leave: JNC Terms - 30 days annual leave for the first five years and 35 days for subsequent years (pro-rata).
Location: Serving the Catchment Areas of
Llanberis
Working Hours: The working week: 2 hours a week, working in the evening and weekends, and at times flexibility could be required in order to meet the needs of specific work.
Hours: The hours to include evenings and weekends and some could be residential.
Car use: Full driving licence and use of a car. The post-holder will be designated an "occasional car user".
Language: The post-holder will need to be confident in both Welsh and English orally and in writing from the outset.
You will be appointed to work in your catchment area, however, in special circumstances you will be required to work outside your catchment area
The post is subject to the completion of an acceptable check through the Criminal Records Bureau.
We will look in detail at the job description in a year's time following the appointment.
The post is subject to completion of Level 3 in Youth work within two years of post.
We draw your attention to the fact that some specific duties and responsibilities are difficult to analyse in detail in some cases and they can change from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility. In addition, every member of staff is required to accept an element of flexibility in their duties and responsibilities, and when necessary exchange within the Authority in order to meet the needs and requirements of the service which continually change. This type of requirement will enable the post holder's specific expertise to grow and develop for the benefit of the employer and employee.
