An exciting opportunity has arisen at Cardiff and Vale College for a Senior Assessment & Inclusion Coach to be based at our City Centre Campus on Dumballs Road. As a Senior Assessment and Inclusion Coach, you will provide support to the Specialist Teacher: Inclusion in the co-ordination of Access Arrangement and Reasonable Adjustment (AARA) processes and targeted interventions for learners with additional learning needs (ALN), learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD). You will also have a case load of learners as an Assessment and Inclusion Coach, working with learners with more complex needs, and will undertake AARA assessments and provide coaching to learners as part of the additional learning provision (ALP) available at college.
Key Responsibilities include:
You will have extensive experience working in an education setting with learners with ALN and demonstrate experience of collaboration with a wide range of internal and external colleagues. You will have a strong understanding of ALNET Act 2018 and Code 2021. Additionally, you will hold a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PCET, QTS or equivalent) and a appropriate Level 7 Access Arrangement Assessment qualification, including at least 100 hours relating to individual specialist assessment e.g. CCET, PAPAA, CPT3A

Whilst the ability to speak Welsh is not essential for the role, we would love to hear from candidates who are fluent and can engage with learners through the medium of Welsh.

- To assist the Specialist Teacher: Inclusion in the day-to-day co-ordination of AARA processes and delivery of targeted interventions for learners with ALN and/or learning disabilities.
- Liaise with the learners, lecturers, tutors, Inclusive Learning Team, parents/carers and previous educational establishment to ensure that information on previous support and AARA is collated and support recommendations are shared.
- Provide support for lecturers to enable them to refer learners for AARA and provide the necessary background evidence of 'normal way of working' to support the application.
- Carry out appropriate psychometric testing, one to one or in groups, and write comprehensive and accurate reports, including JCQ Form 8 and 9 reports, as appropriate, to identify learner needs and/or support the AARA applications.
- Liaise with awarding bodies to apply for AARA and ensure that processes for requesting arrangements are followed (as required).
