Systems Developer

Cardiff and Vale College
An exciting vacancy is available as a (job title) in the (Department) department at Cardiff and the Vale College. This post will be based at the One Canal Parade, Dumballs Road.

Responsibilities include:
  • Design, develop and maintain bespoke web/desktop applications to meet College needs.
  • Design, develop and maintain College dashboards and reports to enable the analysis and interpretation of KPI data to a variety of audiences.
  • Support, develop and maintain the College's MIS system in collaboration with other colleagues inside and outside of the department.
  • Lead and support in the development and maintenance of the College's VLE alongside the Junior Systems Developer.
  • Work with other College departments to ensure their data and system needs are met, acting as the main point of contact for queries and issues.
  • Act as a liaison between the department and the wider College to ensure that colleagues understand their data, how to access it and to make suggestions for improvement.
  • Proactively look for, and suggest improvements and solutions to, College processes and data/system challenges.
  • Produce and maintain documentation and training materials for all systems and reports as required. Ensure that end users receive suitable training in the use of systems and reports.
  • Act as a mentor and role model to other members of the team, encouraging and inspiring positive behaviours and practices, and calling out the negatives.
  • Work to a high standard in terms of output, presentation, and customer service.
  • Welsh language skills are not essential but would be desirable for this role.
