Ysgol Bryn Derw are seeking to appoint inspirational Level 2 Teaching Assistants for a unique opportunity to contribute to whole school and class-based initiatives in a growing school that received Excellent ratings in 4 out of 5 Estyn Inspection Areas in March 2020.

Ysgol Bryn Derw, across 3 sites, supports the provision of education for 111 children aged from 3 years to 19 years who have been diagnosed with ASD, also present with additional complex needs such as severe learning difficulties and highly challenging behaviour and require a specialised environment.

The school aims to provide the highest possible standards of education and support for all its pupils regardless of their level of educational need and is equipped with a range of specialised facilities including a Rebound Therapy room, 5 sensory rooms, a Therapy room, 4 soft play rooms, 2 Independent Living Skills rooms and 3 allotment areas.

The Governing Body is looking to appoint Level 2 TAs, in this role you will be responsible for delivering learning under the direction of the class teacher and supporting the educational and personal needs of pupils.

You will have experience as a Teaching Assistant, of working with pupils with ASD/complex needs and a knowledge of strategies to support communication and regulation for people with complex ASD and of supporting highly challenging behaviour.

Candidates will be expected to:

- Work under the guidance of teaching staff and or/members of the school leadership team
- To support individuals and groups of pupils to enable access to learning
- To assist the teacher with the management of pupils in the classroom and beyond

Level 2 posts are for up to 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (typically 8.45am-3.45pm Monday-Friday, term-time only). Candidates who wish to work for fewer days should specify their preferred working pattern in their application. Candidate who wish to work a reduced day, specifically 9am to 1.30pm or 11.30am to 3.30pm, will also be considered.
