[Internal] Assistant Childcare Worker - Early Years

Salary: £26,403 Pro Rata | Hourly rate: £13.69 | Grade 3

Fixed term, until 31 st March 2027

10 Hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Flying Start is the Welsh Government's targeted Early Years programme for families with children under 4 years of age living in some of the most disadvantaged areas of Wales.

The core elements of the programme are drawn from a range of options that have been shown to influence positive outcomes for children and their families. These include:

• Free quality, part-time childcare for 2-3 year olds;
• An enhanced Health Visiting service;
• Access to Parenting Support;
• Early Language Development

The Early Years Team is looking for a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Childcare Worker for the Early Years childcare provision, Gofal Plant yr Enfys Gwynllyw, a Welsh medium setting which is situated on the Ysgol Gymraeg Gwynllyw School site.

You will be responsible for assisting the Childcare Supervisor in providing a high-quality childcare lunch time provision. You must have experience of working with children and an understanding of how to provide appropriate support during lunchtime routines. This includes feeding children, preparing bottles, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area, supporting babies with their sleep routines, and engaging them in age‑appropriate play.

The post holder must have a relevant qualification in Early Years/Childcare such as NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.

The ability to speak Welsh at a basic level would be an advantageous or a willingness to learn.
