1:1 Learning Support Assistant - Level 1 - Cosheston VC School

Salary: Grade 3 - £24,027 Pro Rata

Grade 3 - £24,027 for 25 hours per week term time only for 45.8 weeks per annum equating to £14,260.42 pro rata rising to 46.8 weeks, £14,571.78 pro rata per annum after 5 years' service.

The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a learning support assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child. Delivery of specified intervention and behaviour programmes are essential so experience of working with an ALN pupil with strong characteristics would be advantageous.

Working under the direction of the classroom teacher or senior staff, you will provide support for pupils. This will take the form of assisting the Class Teacher through participation in class/ group/ individual lessons. You will also be expected to assist in the preparation of materials and displays, clear away resources as required, and contribute to the delivery of individual learning plans under the direction of the Class Teacher.

You will need to attend to the pupils' personal needs, and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters. You will also be required to supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning, including those with special education needs. You will be required to encourage pupils to interact with others in activities and also encourage them to act independently and behave in an appropriate way.

A good standard of education, an understanding of children/ young people's needs and rights, together with excellent communication skills are all essential for this role.

You will need to be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) for this post.
