Special Needs Support Assistant

Temporary end date: 31st August 2025 – Potential for contract extension

Hours: 30 Hours per week – (Term time only)

Salary: Grade 3 - £24,404 X 71.22%

Start Date: Monday 3rd of February (or sooner)

The Governing Body wish to appoint a dedicated teaching assistant to work at Llanharan Primary School to complement our existing team. The Dedicated teaching assistant will provide support and supervision of child with Down Syndrome and severe communication needs under the direction of the teacher in charge. A knowledge of Makaton is essential to the role. The dedicated teaching assistant would need to work collaboratively with a range of professionals to ensure IDP actions are met. Under the guidance of the class teacher, they will also be required to liaise with parents to provide developmental updates.

PROTECTING CHILDREN AND ADULTS AT RISK IS A CORE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SCHOOL AND COUNCIL. IN ADDITION TO THIS SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITY, THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT FOR THE ROLE WILL ALSO BE SUBJECT TO AN ENHANCED DISCLOSURE AND BARRING SERVICE CHECK.
