1:1 One Teaching Assistant (Level One) - Primary Learning Resource Centre

Permanent (subject to pupil remaining on roll) - Full Time post (32 hours term time)

From Monday 5 th May 2025

Grade 3 - £24,027 for 32 hours per week term time only for 45.8 weeks per annum equating to £18,253.34 pro rata rising to 46.8 weeks, £18,651.88 pro rata per annum after 5 years' service.

The Governors of Neyland Community School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to work in a 1 to 1 position with a pupil with complex learning and medical needs within our new primary school Learning Resource Centre (LRC).

The successful candidate would be expected to work solely with a pupil with complex learning and medical needs. This would involve ensuring the pupil is safe, well cared for and their medical needs are being met.

As a caregiver you will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring and managing blood glucose levels, including administering insulin as required.
  • Managing meals and snacks in accordance with dietary needs.
  • Providing consistent, nurturing care and support tailored to the child's specific developmental needs.
  • Communicating effectively using alternative methods, such as visual aids or sign along, to engage and support the child.
  • Following a structured routine and collaborating with parents to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

Requirements for the post:

  • Experience or willingness to train in managing Type 1 Diabetes, including insulin administration.
  • Experience working with children with Autism, especially those who are non-verbal.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods is highly desirable.
  • Current first aid certification, including paediatric first aid, or willing to train.
  • A caring, patient, and adaptable approach to caregiving
  • Can work under the guidance of the teaching and/or senior staff.
  • Is able to assist with the development and implementation of individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Pastoral Care Programmes.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated with high expectations for pupils' care.
