About The Service
Cardiff's Emotional Health and Wellbeing Team are looking to an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic teacher to this well-established support service. The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is essential.

Working as part of Cardiff Education's Inclusion Service, the Emotional Health and Wellbeing (EHW) Team supports learners who have Emotional Health and Wellbeing difficulties. The team offers a wide range of advice, support and training to learners, parents/carers, schools and other professionals, and works closely with colleagues from across our schools, the Inclusion Service, Health and Children's Services. We work in a wide range of settings with learners from Reception to Year 14 to support inclusion and ensure our learners achieve their full potential.

About the job
The successful applicant will join a team of experienced and enthusiastic EHW Specialist Teachers and Teaching Assistants. The role involves a wide range of different experiences, working in a secondary mainstream school, supporting learners with a range of EHW needs, their schools, families, and other professionals. Through the role you will contribute to raising awareness, increasing expertise and knowledge across the school, and model and support excellent inclusive practice in the field of EHW. Although there is some direct teaching, a large part of the role involves working with organisations to create change and to meet learners needs.

The successful candidate will receive MPS/UPS + ALN allowance depending on their specific qualification in the area of ALN/EHW or experience.

What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for a teacher with a firm understanding of the range of needs of EHW needs, significant experience of supporting learners with EHW and experience of providing advice and support to schools and settings in relation to EHW. In addition, this post requires a person with excellent interpersonal and organization skills.

The successful candidate would need to be flexible, empathetic, with a strong understanding of what good quality teaching and learning looks like. They would need to be able to adapt their teaching and interactive style to suit a range of ages, settings and situations, and be able to build strong professional relationships.

A good understanding of ICT, competent ICT skills and the ability to analyse and evaluate data would be an advantage. They also need a good understanding of the way in which Additional Learning Needs strategies work within the wider educational structure.

The world of education is a fast-changing one, and the successful candidate would need to be able to take a positive approach to working in such an environment of change.

We are looking for someone who has:
  • A firm understanding of the range of Emotional Health and Wellbeing needs and their implications for teaching and learning
  • Evidence of providing advice and support to schools and settings in relation to EHW.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD within the field of ALN and EHW
  • A thorough knowledge of strategies that impact on learners with EHW difficulties
  • Significant proven teaching experience of working with EHW learners and leading school-based improvement projects in this area.
  • Secure knowledge and evidence of understanding both local and national initiatives and developments in relation to ALN/ emotional health and wellbeing needs including excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Experience of multi-agency working including parents/ carers.
  • Experience of applying person centred planning approaches
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • The ability to manage change, problem solve, use high levels of initiative and manage own workload effectively
  • The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh

Additional information
Salary: Main Pay Range/Upper Pay Range (£32,433 - £49,944) + ALN Allowance (£2,728 - £5,378)

The full time post is permanent and we aim to interview on March the 5th.

The successful applicant(s) should be able to communicate effectively in Welsh to Level 5 - Proficient.
