Learning Support Assistant - Federation of Puncheston and Llanychllwydog Schools

Salary: Grade 3 - £24,027 pro rata

Grade 3 - £24,027 for 17 hours per week equivalent to 45.8 weeks per year which equates to £9,697.08 pro rata.

We are looking for a capable Level 1 Learning Support Assistant to work as a 1:1 support for a pupil. This is a fixed term position until 12.05.2026.

This role will be to support one particular pupil, working alongside the class teacher and other professionals; to form a working relationship with the child to use initiative to provide activities of interest, diversions and humour within each day.

Person specification - the qualities for this role are as follows:

  • to develop a working relationship with the child, based upon trust.
  • to be empathetic and resilient.
  • to have Team Teach training, or be willing to undergo training.
  • to have experience of, or be willing to learn and use confidently the de-escalation strategies of Team Teach and Trauma Informed practice.
  • to have experience of, or be willing to work with with children who can become dysregulated.
  • to be able to use your own initiative to provide diversionary, engaging activities.
  • to work collaboratively with the class teacher to create appropriate programmes of activity for the child.
  • to support the child in class lessons, and recognise when a movement break may be advisable.
  • to be confident giving feedback in meetings or with professionals.
  • to liaise with carers and provide regular feedback alongside the class teacher.
  • to uphold safeguarding protocol
  • to be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • To have an excellent record of attendance.
