Ysgol Tycroes is situated in the village of Tycroes just off J49 of the M4, near Ammanford, and welcomes pupils from a wide catchment area within the Amman Valley area. There are currently 201 pupils on roll. We are an English-medium school, but with a strong commitment to the development of the Welsh language amongst our pupils and school community.

Due to the promotion of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly, committed and creative team as Deputy Headteacher. The Governing Body are seeking to appoint a passionate, empathetic, enthusiastic and exceptionally motivated person. You will join a supportive and dedicated leadership team.

The person appointed will:
  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner with a high level of digital competency
  • Be an ambassador for the school with parents, governors and the wider community
  • Promote excellence, equality and high expectations for all pupils
  • Play a key role in devising, delivering and ensuring the implementation of the school's vision, leadership and strategic direction
  • Evaluate school performance, identifying and monitoring priorities for improvement
  • Manage, promote and secure excellent teaching and learning across the whole school
  • Take shared responsibility for the review and further development of the curriculum alongside the Headteacher and staff
  • Provide and support professional development for all staff
  • Work closely with staff to ensure best practice and understanding of accountability
  • Undertake day-to-day management, organisation and administration tasks
  • Work effectively with the school's Governing Body
  • Take an active part in the wider life of the school
  • Deputise in the absence of the Headteacher
  • Have aspirations to move on to Headship in the future
