Come and join our team
Coedcae School is a popular, thriving institution, which serves a richly diverse community in an urban part of Llanelli, within the local authority area of Carmarthenshire.

Our school finds itself in a privileged location: we are within a few miles of the M4, which allows for convenient commuting, travel and ease of access to the city of Cardiff with all its retail, leisure and hospitality opportunities, yet we benefit enormously from our proximity to both coast and countryside. Indeed, the Gower Peninsula is a stone's throw from our school, and the national parks of the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast are an easy drive away. Our school sits conveniently on the border between the counties of Swansea and Carmarthenshire.

Ours is a mixed secondary school for pupils aged 11-16. There are currently 870 pupils on roll. Most of our pupils live in the direct catchment area of our school, with some coming on roll as preferred placements.

Our vision for our school is that our pupils will be inspired by the curriculum that we offer, in all its forms, resulting in strong personal progress and the development of skills that serve them well to thrive in the world both within and beyond our school walls.

We are privileged to be able to draw on a strong team of 54 support staff and 56 teachers here at Coedcae School. Teaching and associate staff are caring, talented and hard-working colleagues, and there is a strong commitment to continuous improvement. We take professional development very seriously and aim to nurture the talents of all colleagues. The involvement and empowerment of all staff is important to us in our drive to raise standards and we genuinely strive to work as one team, in the best interests of our pupils.

The values of respect, honesty, kindness and inclusion underpin our approach to all our work here at Coedcae School, driving all interactions across our warm and friendly school community.

We invest robustly in leadership development programmes and opportunities for our staff. Most of our middle leaders have successfully engaged with nationally-approved leadership training programmes, the opportunity for which we offer annually. We also work closely with the regional consortium, Partneriaeth, in relation to senior leader development programmes and we are currently working with a network of schools across south Wales to deliver an Aspiring Headteacher programme, which benefits our senior leaders.

In our core inspection in February 2023, Estyn, the school inspectorate for Wales, found our school to be a 'highly inclusive, safe and supportive environment where pupils and staff thrive.' Our interim inspection visit of September 2024 confirmed that the school was maintaining its strong practice across core areas, including self-evaluation for improvement practice, about which we were honoured to be asked to share a case study on the Estyn website.

If this opportunity appeals to you and resonates with your own values and principles, please do read on and do not hesitate to contact us if you would like further information. Furthermore, if you would like to visit our school, please contact Laura Jones at: laura.jones@coedcae.org , and she will be happy to arrange this on your behalf.
