An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in Oaklands Primary School, a thriving school community in Aberaman on the outskirts of Aberdare.

Oaklands Primary School is a happy and successful primary school with a strong caring and inclusive ethos situated in the community of Aberaman. The school currently has 205 pupils on roll split across 8 classes, which includes a Local Authority ASD provision for 5-7 year old and a full time Nursery.

The Headteacher, Governing Body, staff and pupils are seeking to appoint an innovative, motivated, and excellent practitioner who is ready to take up the challenge and become an integral part of our community.

We are seeking a teacher who can demonstrate excellent classroom practice, with a thorough knowledge of the new curriculum.

Governors are committed to appointing a teacher who should:
  • Be an excellent classroom teacher with proven high expectations of children's achievements and be fully committed to raising standards in learning.
  • Have an excellent understanding and implementation of Curriculum for Wales, skills development and pedagogy and can use this to inform teaching.
  • Have excellent skills and confidence in the effective use of a range of AFL techniques and is committed to developing personalised learning for all pupils.
  • Be willing to play an active role in all aspects of school life, including clubs and taking responsibility for curriculum areas.
  • Have an excellent understanding of ICT both as a teaching and learning tool.
  • Be a flexible, well organised and motivated professional.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with parents, agencies and the wider community.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a highly effective team.
  • Promote a positive behaviour management style, in a nurturing environment where all pupils can achieve.
