Cardiff and Vale College

Salary: £39,276 - £41,603 per annum

Cardiff and Vale College are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join our dedicated team and play a key role in delivering a high-quality, proactive HR service across our college. Working in a busy and challenging environment, you will be supporting managers and staff across a wide range of HR matters, including employee relations, casework, recruitment, performance management, and organisational change.

Key Responsibilities for this role include:
  • Providing professional advice and guidance to managers on HR policy, employment law, and best practice.
  • Managing a caseload of complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, and absence management.
  • Leading on HR strategic projects and seeing these through to completion.
  • Supporting the HR Recruitment advisor with recruitment campaigns, ensuring a smooth and inclusive process.
  • Contributing to workforce planning, organisational development and change management initiatives.
  • Working collaboratively with trade union representatives and internal stakeholders.
  • Developing and delivering management development training sessions to managers and colleagues.

About You
  • Proven experience as an HR Advisor (or equivalent), ideally within the further education or wider education sector.
  • Proven ability of working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility at all levels.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • CIPD qualified (Minimum Level 3) or working towards a higher level.
  • A commitment to upholding the College values of Inspirational, Inclusive, Influential

  • Welsh language skills whilst not essential would be desirable for this role.
  • This post will be based at the City Centre Campus with some requirement to work across our other sites where necessary.
