Qualifications
Essential
- Current, full D1 minibus Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Speaks Welsh, training regarding vulnerable travellers.
- An up-to-date, full DBS will be required before undertaking the duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsibility to drive a minibus safely and efficiently, considering the health, safety and welfare of the passengers and the highway code rules.
- Conduct a daily vehicle safety check, in accordance with fleet department policies, reporting back to the line manager and relevant fleet department officers.
- Provide a friendly service and assist learners to get in and out of the vehicle safely and ensure they are wearing a seat belt. Physical and mental characteristics will need to be considered when allocating suitable seats.
- A wheelchair ramp will need to be operated at the rear of the vehicle and ensure that the learner is safe when moving and that the chair is clamped correctly in the vehicle - appropriate training will be provided to this end.
- Wear specialist clothing provided by the council when considering Health and Safety features.
- Inform the line manager of any problems or frustrations that may exist or incidents on the transport, completing the relevant form as required.
- If the vehicle must stop unexpectedly, or breaks down, you will be responsible for safely transferring the learners to another vehicle.
- Ensure that the vehicles are kept clean outside and inside, equipment will be provided for this purpose.
- Attend training relevant to the job.
- Undertake duties in accordance with council policies and procedures
