The Curriculum Area of Performing Arts provision at Coleg Ceredigion (Aberystwyth Campus) is part of the Faculty of Creative and Culinary Arts, Animal Science, Automotive and Technology and sits within the West Directorate.
As part of the 'Creative Industries' department, Performing Arts run vibrant programmes for their learners, providing them with a clear understanding of the sector, enabling them to progress into employment and/or higher education which also includes vocational dance or drama college. They offer courses at Level 3 and have strong links with industry specialists, who visit as guest speakers and run workshop sessions.
All learners undertake a Literacy or Numeracy Skills pathways along-side their main qualification together with a strong pastoral tutorial programme.
The holder of the post will have strong Drama and Singing Skills and contribute to the delivery of a L3 University Arts London programme in Performing Arts.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake the teaching and assessment of Performing Arts/Drama/Singing at L3.
- Lead and direct an appropriate range of productions.
- Deliver and promote Skills development and work to produce successful candidates to apply to Higher Education and Vocational School/ colleges.
- Actively work to develop recruitment through the creation of projects and engagement with local schools whilst promoting internal and external marketing opportunities.
- Actively seek creative collaboration opportunities between creative industry departments and external providers.
- Actively create and promote a diverse programme of activities that include masterclasses/workshops and visits to enhance the learners' experiences.
- Liaise with creative industries colleagues, managers and directors to ensure an effective learner experience and successful outcome.
Skills Knowledge and ExpertiseEssential Criteria:
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
- Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification as at the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date)
- GCSE English/Maths at minimum Grade C or equivalent
- Documented evidence of appropriate Professional Development
- Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Excellent punctuality and ability to work flexibly
- Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 3/4 Essential
- Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 3/4 Essential
