An exciting vacancy is available as a Welsh Language Development Officer in the Welsh Language department at Cardiff and the Vale College. This post will be based at the City Centre Campus.

Responsibilities include:
  • To coordinate Welsh language mentoring sessions for staff to support the Work Welsh programme.
  • To create and deliver innovative Welsh language support sessions for staff and learners.
  • To support, encourage and increase the number of Welsh speaking learners to complete main qualifications bilingually.
  • To develop the Welsh language skills of all learners within their main qualification.
  • To provide Welsh medium mentoring sessions for Welsh speaking learners.
  • To coordinate bilingual opportunities throughout the academic year for staff and learners - to include Welsh cultural celebrations.
  • To drive and build a bilingual community for staff and learners across the college.
  • To develop sustainable partnerships with bilingual external organisations.
  • To support and develop a successful team of Welsh medium learner ambassadors across the college.
  • To generate new and innovative bilingual resources to meet the needs of staff and learners across the college.
  • To work independently within the Welsh department, reporting to the Welsh Curriculum Manager on a consistent basis.
  • To attend regular key meetings and training with Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.
  • To strive to meet the aims and objectives of the CAVC Welsh strategy 'Cymraeg i bawb'.
  • To work collaboratively with course tutors and learners.
  • To offer learners support with UCAS personal statement writing.
  • To develop personal bilingual skills through Sgiliaith mentoring scheme.
  • Welsh language skills are essential for this role.

Please note that this is a Fixed Term Contract until July 2026
