Welsh Language Translator - 12604 - Fixed Term Contract until October 2026

Salary: £32,189 - £34,381 pro rata

An exciting vacancy is available as a Welsh Language Translator in the Marketing & Communications department at Cardiff and the Vale College. This post will be based at the One Canal Parade offices on Dumballs Road, Cardiff.

Responsibilities include:
  • Manage the College's translation workflow and coordinate translation requests across departments, to support appropriate and sustainable translation as required to meet compliance and support sustainable growth of the Welsh language across the College.
  • Manage relationships with external translators, making informed decisions on whether work is best completed in-house or outsourced, based on workload, deadlines, and complexity.
  • Professionally translate a variety of materials from English to Welsh and Welsh to English.
  • Ensure all translations are accurate, high quality and culturally appropriate, following agreed terminology and style guides.
  • Manage relationships with external translators, making informed decisions on whether work is best completed in-house or outsourced, based on workload, deadlines, and complexity.
  • Provide proofreading and quality assurance of internally and externally produced Welsh language materials.
  • Manage the College's translation workflow and coordinate translation requests across departments.
  • Maintain and up-to-date database of translation resources, terminology and preferred suppliers.
  • Support a mentoring programme to help staff improve their Welsh language skills and confidence in using the language in their roles.
  • Welsh language skills essential for this role.

Please note that this role is a Fixed Term Contract until October 2026.
