Project Manager Education Transport

Salary: GR09 SCP 30-34 £40,777.00 - £45,091.00 per annum

Secondment Opportunity for 2 years

We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Project Manager to lead our Education Transport Service team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality, cost-effective transport services for schools across Neath Port Talbot.

The main duties of the post;

Take responsibility and accountability for the Education Transport Service, including leading the Home to School Transport review.

Manage delivery and performance, ensuring targets are met and regular reports are provided to senior management, members, and schools.

Oversee quality, monitoring, and compliance with relevant legislation (including ALN and Learner Travel Wales).

Work closely with partners, employers, and other local authorities to develop effective working arrangements.

Ensure robust financial management and resource planning.

Lead, motivate, and develop a small team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

The successful candidate will be required to have proven experience of managing projects within local government or the public sector, ideally in education transport services.

Experience of partnership working at strategic, operational and community levels with the ability to work effectively with senior officers, elected members and key partners.

Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to apply these strategically and operationally.

Ability to work effectively in a high pressure and multi-disciplinary environment,

to set priorities and deadlines, delegate tasks effectively and ensure work programmes are delivered.

The successful candidate will be educated to a degree level in a relevant discipline (e.g., Public Administration, Transport Planning, Project Management) or significant relevant experience.

PRINCE2 or other recognised project management certification (or willingness to work towards).
