About the role:
We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Training Advisor - Engagement. NPT Skills & Training Unit operate within Neath Port Talbot and across South Wales, delivering work based learning programmes, providing vocational training and learning. We work within schools and specialist units, with post 16 young people and employed apprentices across several sectors. NPT Skills & Training are constantly developing their provision and are a growing team, providing many opportunities for staff to develop their own skills, experience and progress internally. Staff development programmes are available to staff to further enhance their career.
As a Training Advisor - Engagement, you will be required to ensure that learners undertaking vocational training and employment opportunity programmes are given appropriate support and guidance in order to achieve their full potential, in line with contractual agreements within a Work Based Learning provision.
The post will demand a degree of experience in supporting young people with a varied range of barriers to employability.
Your daily routine will include:
- Undertake inductions, assessments, interviews and reviews with learners to develop an effective learning plan.
- Design and/or deliver appropriate learning materials and resources to support enrichment sessions/courses/qualifications delivered at Skills & Training, completing assessments that meet awarding body requirements, where applicable.
- Manage a caseload of complex learners, ensuring learners engage, develop and progress from their programme, according to their learning plan.
- Support with identification of work placements, complete job searching and facilitating employment related activities such as visits off site, guest speakers etc.
- Manage all documentation associated to your activities and caseload, ensuring that targets and deadlines are met timely.
You will have experience of working with young people, delivering sessions/courses/qualifications around employability and the barriers that prevent engagement and progression. You will have ideally worked with young people who may have additional learning needs/disabilities/health or neurodiversity conditions.
You will have a good knowledge of local employers and labour market trends to support employability development.
Do you have:
- GCSE (or equivalent/higher) in Maths and English grade C and above/Level 2
- A1/V1 awards/ TAQA and/or internal verifier awards or equivalent or a commitment to work towards them
- NVQ Level 4 in Advice & Guidance or equivalent or a commitment to work towards them
