An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cardiff and Vale College for a term-time only Safeguarding Officer in the Safeguarding and Wellbeing department.The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the College's Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures across the college.
Other responsibilities include:
- Encourage good practice by promoting and championing the safeguarding policy and procedures; acting as designated safeguarding officer.
- Support the College's Safeguarding Strategy and Action Plan
- Respond appropriately to disclosures or concerns which relate to the well-being of learners in care or recently leaving care, maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders.
- To attend meetings with external organisations as needed (including core group meetings, Child Protection conferences, Care & Support meetings etc.)
- To maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date documentation on all cases and report where required and manage safeguarding concerns on My Concern.
The successful applicant must hold an appropriate qualification at level 2 or above and have received designated Operational Safeguarding Training. A well-developed awareness and understanding of post-16 issues, supported by experience is also essential for this role.
