Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) Assessor

Salary: £28,949 - £30,920 pro rata (Based on a fte of £33,477 - £35,756 per annum)

Cardiff and Vale College are looking for an Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) Assessor to work across all campuses, supporting learners. The role is on a fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.

Responsibilities include:
  • Liaise with parents/carers, previous educational establishments and external agencies, to ensure that information on previous support and AARA is collated and support recommendations are shared.
  • Oversee a caseload of AARA referrals, collaborating with lecturers to secure appropriate evidence of learners' normal way of working, while ensuring applications are processed within required deadlines and outcomes are clearly communicated.
  • Carry out appropriate psychometric testing, in compliance with Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) requirements and write comprehensive and accurate reports, as appropriate, to identify learner needs and/or ensure appropriate AARA are awarded to learners.
  • To ensure AARA applications are supported by compliant evidence and liaise with awarding bodies as required.
  • To remain up to date with JCQ guidelines.

The successful candidate will preferably be educated to degree level, a recognised teaching qualification and hold an appropriate Level 7 Access Arrangement Assessment qualification, including at least 100 hours relating to individual specialist assessment e.g. CCET, PAPAA, CPT3A.

Whilst the ability to speak Welsh is not essential for the role, we would love to hear from candidates who are fluent and can engage with learners through the medium of Welsh.
