Owing to the forthcoming retirement of the current headteacher, applications are invited for the position of headteacher of the federation of Tavernspite and Templeton Schools. The federation has an outstanding reputation both locally and nationally for excellent pupil standards and wellbeing, as evidenced by the recent Estyn report.

Serving the communities of Tavernspite, Templeton and beyond, our federation offers an exciting opportunity to lead two excellent primary schools with a combined number of 329 pupils, 206 in Tavernspite and 123 in Templeton.

The headteacher will be required to split their time between the two schools, whilst maintaining a whole school vision and approach to the role. You will lead a strong senior management team who support the day-to-day management of the two school sites, together with excellent and dedicated teachers who are supported by a wider team of equally enthusiastic learning support assistants and other ancillary staff.

Governors, staff and pupils would like to hear from you if you:

  • can show an excellent understanding of the Curriculum for Wales, its requirements and how you will successfully implement it throughout the federation.
  • are committed to the continuous improvement of high standards and an inclusive ethos.
  • can foster a learning environment that provides a first-class primary education and encourages pupils to be ambitious in their outlook.
  • can provide an environment in which pupils feel safe and are happy, eager and enthusiastic to learn and where any challenging behaviour is managed skilfully and sensitively.
  • are able to be a passionate catalyst for the Welsh language and its wider use throughout the school.
  • recognise and support the provision of music and expressive arts throughout the school as a tool for learning.
  • embrace inclusivity and equality within sport.

The school offers you:
  • happy, motivated, enthusiastic children
  • an established, dedicated staff team
  • a supportive and committed Governing Body
  • a caring ethos
  • support for your own professional development
If you would like further information about the schools, please contact the School Improvement Adviser Damon McGarvie mcgarvied@hwbcymru.net

We would welcome applications from experienced senior leaders, who are excited by the opportunity this role offers, to showcase your talents and determination to take this federation on the next part of its journey.
