Education Planning & Welsh-medium OfficerJob description
Welsh Language Skills are essential for this position
About the role:
As part of the Education Directorate's newly established Education Planning and Resource Service, this strategic role will lead the development and delivery of Welsh medium education across Powys. You will be responsible for implementing the Welsh in Education Strategic Plan (WESP), supporting the Transforming Education Strategy,
and contributing to the Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme, and supporting schools to meet the requirements of the new Welsh Language and Education Bill.
About you:
You are a fluent Welsh speaker with a strong understanding of Welsh-medium education policy, bilingual pedagogy, and strategic planning. You are confident in leading change, influencing stakeholders, and delivering measurable outcomes. You are passionate about the Welsh language and committed to ensuring equitable access to Welsh-medium education across Powys.
What you will do:
You will work closely with colleagues across the Education Directorate, other Council services, schools and partner organisations to ensure a coherent and joined-up approach to developing Welsh-medium provision from early years through to post-16. This role is central to Powys County Council's commitment to increasing access to Welsh-medium education and supporting the Welsh Government's target of one million
Welsh speakers by 2050.
