Glasllwch Primary School provides education for pupils aged between 3yrs and 11yrs. It is located in an economically advantaged, residential area of Newport and is within the John Frost cluster of primary schools. There are currently 210 pupils on roll plus 16 full time equivalent pupils in the nursery which opened in September 2015.

We sustain high academic standards whilst developing a creative, learner-centered, enquiry-focused curriculum that is driven by the four purposes and inclusive of all learners.

The Governing Body and Headteacher of Glasllwch Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking, caring and reliable Breakfast Club Supervisor to start on Monday 13th April 2026.

This will initially be a fixed term, temporary contract up until the end of August 2026.

The position is for 3 hours and 20 minutes a week, 8.10am – 8:50am Monday to Friday.

The successful Breakfast Club Supervisor will need to demonstrate:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work effectively as part of a caring, supportive team
• A commitment to creating a positive, safe and nurturing start to the school day for all pupils
• Experience of working with children aged 3–11
• High standards in basic skills, including organisation and record keeping
• A genuine enthusiasm for working with children and a commitment to ongoing professional development
• The ability to use initiative, remain flexible and respond calmly to changing needs

The successful candidate will:
• Supervise and support pupils during Breakfast Club, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment • Encourage positive behaviour, social interaction and healthy routines
• Work under the guidance of senior staff to deliver engaging activities that prepare pupils for the school day
• Support individuals and groups of pupils to ensure their wellbeing and readiness to learn
• Assist with the organisation of the club, including setting up, tidying away and maintaining a safe, stimulating environment
• Carry out basic administrative tasks linked to attendance, food provision and safeguarding procedures

Holidays must be taken during school closure periods. The appointment process will involve an interview with members of the school leadership team.

This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS).
