Working hours: 37 hours per week

(39 working weeks in a school year which is 38 weeks of school term and 5 days in training)

Pay Scale: Pay is paid in accordance with the Working Conditions for Local Government Employees, GS4 Scale, points 7 - 11 £22,730 - £24,227 according to experience and qualification.

Qualifications:

Essential:
•Educated to GCSE level with a minimum of 5 A*-C including English and Maths (or equivalent)

Desirable:
•Vocational qualifications relating to Finance
•Evidence of continuing professional development
•Formal further education qualification and /or degree in relevant discipline (desirable)

Experience:

Essential:
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes
•Information gathering and analysis
•Awareness of principles behind Data Protection and GDPR

JOB DESCRIPTION

37hrs term time only

Salary GS4 (7 to 11) pro rata.

What follows is a list of responsibilities which the post holder at Ysgol Friars may be required to undertake. It represents an agreement between the school's management and the post holder which may be subject to renegotiation by either party should there be a change in management or a new appointee. The list further represents a list of responsibilities which cannot be carried out simultaneously and is therefore subject to prioritisation by school management or the varying demands of different periods of the academic year. It is also subject to the terms of the appointee's contract and any local agreements with the LA.

MANAGEMENT: Accountable to the Business Manager and Senior Leadership Team.

PURPOSE OF POST & MAIN DUTIES
  • Assist with the financial administration procedures under the direction of the Business Manager to include the preparation of cash/cheques for banking as and when required; and trips to the bank.
  • Be responsible for the administration of the School Fund Account under the direction of the Business Manager, including the preparation of cash/cheques for banking daily, billing, the collection of monies, ensuring the secure storage of monies; bank reconciliation.
  • Be responsible for the financial aspects of the Instrumental Tuition Scheme;
  • Be responsible for all aspects of the letting of school premises to the community;
  • Assist the Business Manager with the ordering process and payment of invoices; including credit card and reconciliation.
  • Oversee and administer all payments for school trips and off-site activities, ensuring that any payment is counter-authorised by the appropriate line manager;
  • Research and obtain digital copies of such documents as may be required under the direction of the Head teacher;
  • Undertake any duties as may be reasonably allocated by the Business Manager or a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • To coordinate the bookings system for the school hall, sports hall on the internal and external school calendars.

  • To coordinate the bookings for the school minibus and assist the Health and Safety Co-ordinator in ensuring the necessary checks.

  • Oversee the financial aspects of school photos in their payment and distribution.

  • Undertake any duties as may be reasonably allocated by the Business Manager or a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

    • Responsible for self-development.
    • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the school's Health and Safety Policy.
    • Operate within the school's policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
