Assistant Headteacher & ALNCo

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the leadership team of a happy and successful primary school as an Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Additional Learning Needs (ALNCo). This is a key strategic role for an exceptional practitioner and leader who is passionate about inclusion and committed to ensuring the highest standards for all learners.

The successful candidate will play a central role in driving school improvement, with a particular focus on ALN provision, inclusive practice and equitable outcomes for all pupils.

We are seeking an individual who demonstrates:
  • Proven experience of successful leadership across a primary school, with the ability to contribute strategically as part of a senior leadership team.
  • Expertise in ALN, with experience of implementing and leading a wide range of effective strategies to support diverse additional learning needs.
  • A strong track record in school improvement, including self-evaluation, assessment and the successful implementation of whole-school initiatives.
  • A passionate commitment to inclusive education, ensuring that all pupils-particularly those eligible for FSM, LAC and those with social, emotional and behavioural needs achieve their full potential.
  • High expectations for all learners and a proven record as an outstanding classroom practitioner.
  • The ability to lead and manage provision for pupils with ALN, including coordinating support, working with external agencies, and supporting staff to deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and the wider community.
  • Strong behaviour management expertise and experience in supporting pupils with a range of complex needs.
  • The vision, integrity and resilience to lead change, motivate colleagues and sustain improvement.
  • The ability to work independently with agreed autonomy while empowering others and building confidence within the team.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development, both personally and across the staff team.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and reflective leader to shape and develop inclusive practice across the school, ensuring that every learner is supported to succeed.
