We are now looking for a passionate and skilled Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is eager to make a real difference in the lives of young people with complex needs.
The Role:
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant at St Christopher's, you will work closely with our teachers and specialist staff to support learners with Autism and sensory processing needs. You will implement tailored strategies and approaches to help engage students in their learning, promote positive behaviours, and support their overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and group support to students with complex Autism, communication difficulties and sensory processing needs.
Assist with the development and delivery of personalised learning plans, adapting strategies to meet individual needs.
Support students in both academic and non-academic activities, including personal care and Hydrotherapy session, fostering independence and life skills.
Use positive behaviour support techniques to encourage and motivate students.
Help create and maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed.
Support students during sensory regulation activities.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will be a compassionate and patient individual with a strong understanding of Autism, communication difficulties and sensory processing challenges, and the needs of children with complex learning difficulties. You will have experience working in a specialist setting, with a passion for supporting children to reach their full potential.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Experience supporting students with Autism and sensory processing difficulties.
A strong understanding of different teaching strategies, particularly those for learners with additional needs
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with additional needs.
Desirable:
Additional training in Autism or sensory integration strategies.
Experience of using communication aids or devices.
Knowledge of positive behaviour management techniques.
