The Role

Carmarthenshire County Council is seeking an excellent, inspirational, creative and dedicated practitioner to join our Welsh in Education Service.

The postholder will teach within a Welsh Language Immersion Centre, ensuring a high‑quality language acquisition experience for pupils who are new to Welsh‑medium education. The role will include:
  • Supporting learners to move confidently along the language continuum
  • Monitoring progress closely and responding to individual needs
  • Adapting and improving teaching to ensure consistent and purposeful progress

The postholder will also
  • Work closely with parents/carers, school leaders and a wide range of practitioners and agencies
  • Work in close partnership with colleagues in other immersion centres in Carmarthenshire and beyond
  • Ensure excellent immersion provision and equity for all learners

A strong understanding of language acquisition methodology, Additional Learning Needs (ALN), neurodiversity and trauma‑informed approaches is essential for this role.

We expect high standards of teaching, a strong commitment to learner well-being, and the ability to work effectively as part of an ambitious and professional team.
