Job Title: Head of Technology Enhanced Learning

Contract: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £47,952 per annum



An exciting opportunity has arisen at Cardiff and Vale College for a Head of Technology Enhanced Learning. Reporting to the Dean of Quality, the role will be responsible for supporting the College to meet the 2030 Digital Standards, working to transform teaching and learning and the learner journey and helping to create skilled and employable people. Other responsibilities include:



Providing dynamic and effective leadership in TEL.
Manage and drive all TEL projects across CAVC including documentation and maintenance planning to ensure a continuous improvement approach to college e-learning teaching delivery.
Support the planning and delivery of high-quality TEL training for staff.
Establish and develop eLearning materials for commercial and curriculum use, working with supplier partners if required to look at possible improvements, and costing and scoping these projects accordingly.
Develop guidelines, standards, process and templates for TEL development and maintenance.
Deliver best ROI for TEL activity, in line with the related CAVC budgets.
Submitting project bids to secure external funds (as appropriate) to support developments and innovative project work relating to TEL.


The successful candidate must be educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally with a PGCE or Certificate in Education. They must also have management experience, ideally within an educational setting and a proven track record of producing creative learning solutions using a combination of software packages including Office 365. The successful candidate must also have strong project management skills and a good understanding of external pressures and opportunities within an e-Learning context. The ability to speak Welsh is also highly desirable.

Person Specification – Previous experience and Job Knowledge
31. Management experience, ideally in an educational or training setting.

32. Experience of producing creative learning solutions using a combination of software packages including Office 365.
33. experience of working in an educational environment.
34. Significant experience of developing eLearning resources for delivery through a virtual learning environment (VIE).
35. Previous track record of software and systems at administration/ management level
36. Experience of influencing the decisions of others, anticipating and highlighting options and issues that need to be taken into account and presenting solutions to achieve the end goal.
37. Experience in a service delivery role managing service delivery projects to ensure customer satisfaction.

Other requirements
40. The role will require frequent travel between all sites within the College and the post holder will therefore require a full driving licence.
