Pennard Primary School is seeking to appoint an inspiring, reflective and highly skilled teacher to take on a Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR). This is an exciting opportunity for a practitioner who is passionate about inquiry based learning, inclusion and wellbeing, and who is ready to play a significant role in shaping whole school development.

Our school's vision is rooted in a holistic, inclusive and inquiry driven approach, where curiosity, wellbeing and high expectations sit at the heart of everything we do. The successful candidate will join the senior leadership team to support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in driving this ethos forward, strengthening teaching and learning and ensuring consistency and innovation across the school.

Pennard Primary is an inclusive, nurturing and inspiring learning environment where pupil voice, wellbeing and individuality are deeply valued. Our children are confident, thoughtful and eager to learn, and our community is warm, dedicated and supportive.

The TLR postholder will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to support, develop and embed the school's strategic priorities, including:
  • Inquiry based learning - leading and supporting planning, pedagogy and pupil led learning experiences rooted in curiosity, exploration and authentic contexts.
  • Wellbeing - promoting a relational wellbeing focused approach and ensuring consistent practice across the school.
  • Inclusive learning - supporting teachers to plan for and deliver inclusive, adaptive learning that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Learning enablers: environment, experiences and adults - enhancing the quality of learning environments, rich experiences and the skills and interactions of adults who support learners across the primary range.
  • Cross curricular skills and integral skills - ensuring high expectations for literacy, numeracy, digital competence and wider integral skills are embedded across the curriculum.

The successful candidate will:
  • Embody and model Pennard Primary School's vision, values and ethos.
  • Work collaboratively with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher to drive school improvement.
  • Support the leadership of teaching, learning and whole school development.
  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Champion high quality, inclusive, child centred practice across the school.

Key Responsibilities
The TLR postholder will:
  • Support whole school improvement linked to curriculum design, pedagogy, wellbeing and inclusion.
  • Lead and contribute to staff professional learning in identified priority areas.
  • Support the monitoring, evaluation and development of teaching and learning.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team on strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Act as a role model for excellent professional practice and the school's ethos.

We Would Like Applicants To:
  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with secure knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales.
  • Be deeply committed to inclusive, inquiry based and child centred learning.
  • Place pupil wellbeing at the heart of teaching, learning and leadership.
  • Have experience of, or a strong interest in, leading aspects of school improvement.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire, support and challenge colleagues.
  • Be reflective, innovative and committed to continuous professional learning.
  • Show a strong commitment to teamwork, collaboration and shared leadership.
  • Engage positively with parents, governors and the wider school community.
  • Participate fully in the life of the school.

The School Can Offer:
  • A creative, inclusive and nurturing school community.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated learners with strong pupil voice.
  • A supportive, forward thinking Senior Leadership Team.
  • Opportunities for leadership development and professional growth.
  • A rich indoor and outdoor learning environment that promotes curiosity and wellbeing.

Pennard Primary School places the highest priority on the safeguarding of children and all applicants will follow a stringent vetting and induction process. This post requires the postholder to have an enhanced DBS.

If you feel that you have the experience and attributes for the post, please outline these in a letter and return to the Headteacher and Governing Body.
