MATHEMATICS TEACHER

The Governors are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and committed Teacher of Mathematics to join our successful 11-18 secondary school in North Wales. The successful candidate will be an effective and reflective practitioner, capable of delivering high-quality teaching and learning in line with the Curriculum for Wales, and of inspiring pupils to achieve their full potential across all years. There is an opportunity for the successful applicant to contribute to post-16 provision, including the teaching of A Level Mathematics and/or Further Mathematics. This post offers an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and forward-looking department dedicated to securing strong outcomes and fostering a genuine enthusiasm for mathematics.

  • Have experience of teaching and inspiring pupils across the secondary age and ability range to learn effectively and produce work of a high standard, using assessment to inform future planning of pupils' work will be advantageous, but it is recognised that this may be limited to teaching practice experiences in the case of applicants who have only recently undergone Initial Teacher Training.

JOB DESCRIPTION: TEACHER OF MATHEMATICS

Salary is paid in accordance with the Teachers' Pay Scale (£33,731 - £51,942) according to experience and qualification.

Management

What follows is a list of responsibilities which a teacher may be required to undertake. It may be subject to renegotiation should there be changes within the Senior Leadership Team. It further represents a list of responsibilities which cannot be carried out simultaneously and is therefore subject to prioritisation, delegation or to the varying demands of different periods of the academic year. It is also subject to the terms of the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions of Service document which apply to teachers.

The Headteacher is responsible for the deployment and management of all staff employed to work at the school and his authority may be delegated to other members of the Senior Leadership Team. On a day to day basis, you are directly accountable to the relevant Head of Faculty/Department for your teaching duties.

General Teaching Duties Duties - Outcomes to Be Achieved:

You should seek to support the school's attempt to secure the best possible attendance and:
  • Ensure that pupils in your group are registered promptly and accurately
  • Secure the best possible attendance of pupils in your registration group.

If acting as a registration tutor, you should ensure, as far as possible, that pupils leave registration prepared for the school day and:
  • Ensure that pupils leave your registration period dressed in accordance with school uniform policy.

  • Passing on positive gossip from staff briefing;
