About the role
You will provide professional leadership to embed industry‑relevant STEM, digital, literacy and numeracy skills across the Curriculum for Wales. Working strategically with schools, employers, colleges and regional partners, you will design and coordinate engaging learning experiences that raise aspirations and broaden awareness of high‑value local career pathways.
The role sits within Education Effectiveness and operates on a strategic matrix basis with the Investment Zone Programme Manager within the Economy and Planning Department, ensuring alignment with wider economic and workforce priorities.

• Designing and delivering high‑quality teacher professional learning (PL)
• Supporting schools with curriculum design, skills progression and innovation
• Building strong partnerships with employers and education providers
• Championing equity, inclusion and participation in STEM, especially for under‑represented groups
• Developing and evaluating impactful learner experiences, including workshops, site visits and employer‑led activities
• Monitoring impact and contributing to strategic reporting
About you
You will be an experienced education professional with a strong understanding of curriculum, pedagogy and skills development, and a passion for preparing young people for future opportunities.
We are looking for someone who:
• Is educated to degree level, with a postgraduate qualification including QTS
• Has relevant teaching experience and a deep understanding of the Curriculum for Wales
• Has experience of curriculum leadership, skills‑based learning and education partnerships
• Can confidently work with headteachers, teachers, employers and senior stakeholders
• Is creative, solutions‑focused and able to lead change through influence rather than line management
• Is committed to equality, inclusion and raising aspirations for all learners
• Has strong communication, organisational and impact‑evaluation skills
• Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential
Why work with us?
This role offers a rare chance to work at the intersection of education, skills and economic growth, shaping long‑term outcomes for children, young people and the region. You'll be supported by an experienced Education Effectiveness team, along with the Investment Zone Strategic team and play a central role in a high‑profile, future‑focused programme.
