Salary: Grade 7 – £31,022 x 77.15%

The Governing Body wish to appoint a Café Manager to work at Ysgol Hen Felin to complement our existing team.

Ysgol Hen Felin is a highly regarded, sector-leading special school providing education for pupils with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, and autism spectrum conditions.

Since April 2025, the school has operated across three sites, with the main site located in Ystrad Rhondda and satellite provisions based in Tonyrefail and at the local college.

In Spring 2022, the school established a purpose-built community café at the main site. The café plays a vital role in supporting pupils to develop independence, communication, employability, and life skills through meaningful work-based learning opportunities. The café is open daily to staff and invited members of the wider community and also provides a delivery service to staff working across the school’s satellite provisions and other local establishments.

The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Café Manager with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with a range of additional learning needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the café while supporting pupils to engage in valuable practical learning experiences within a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Flexibility, enthusiasm, and innovation
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider school team
• A commitment to promoting independence and developing pupils’ work-related skills
• Experience within a catering, hospitality, or café environment

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. For further information or to arrange a visit, please contact the school office.

The school and Rhondda Cynon Taf council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and wellbeing of all children. Successful applications will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
