Ysgol Cwm Alun will be a new specialist provision, sited at Dodds Lane Gwersyllt. The school aims to be a nurturing and inclusive setting specialising in supporting pupils with Emotional, Social and Mental Health (ESMH) needs. We are seeking to appoint a caring, patient and committed Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to pupils who require additional support to feel safe, engage in learning and develop confidence.

As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and pastoral staff to provide support that helps pupils regulate emotions, build positive relationships and access learning successfully.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils in lessons- Helping pupils engage with tasks, stay focused and participate positively in classroom activities.

• Providing emotional support- Using calm, nurturing approaches to help pupils manage feelings, reduce anxiety and develop self-regulation skills.

• Adapting tasks and resources- Making learning accessible by breaking down instructions, simplifying activities and offering reassurance.

• Encouraging social interaction- Supporting pupils to build friendships, communicate appropriately and work cooperatively with others.

• Working collaboratively- Liaising with teachers, support staff and external professionals to ensure consistent, high-quality support.

• Promoting a positive environment- Helping to maintain a safe, structured and nurturing atmosphere where pupils can thrive.

We are seeking someone who is:

• Compassionate, patient and committed to supporting pupils with ESMH needs.

• Calm under pressure, with a positive and resilient approach.

• Able to build trusting relationships with pupils who may struggle with confidence or emotional regulation.

• A good communicator who works well as part of a team.

• Reliable, flexible and willing to learn new strategies and approaches.

• Experience of working with pupils with ESMH or additional learning needs is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

We can offer:

• A supportive, experienced and passionate staff team.

• Access to specialist training in ESMH, trauma‑informed practice and therapeutic approaches.

• Opportunities to develop your career in a highly rewarding area of education.

• A school culture built on empathy, respect and the belief that every child can succeed.

If you are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with ESMH needs, we would be delighted to receive your application
