About the role:
The Specialist Teacher for Autism and Neurodivergence provides expert
guidance, intervention, and training to support children and young people with a range of neurodivergent profiles - including Autism Spectrum Difficulties (ASD) and persistent demand avoidance (PDA), ADHD, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), Dyspraxia (DCD), and other cognitive or sensory differences.
The role strengthens inclusive practice across schools and settings, ensuring that learners can access education, thrive socially, and achieve their potential.
About you:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Significant experience working with autistic and neurodivergent learners.
• Strong understanding of neurodiversity, sensory processing,
communication differences, and co-occurring needs.
• Ability to deliver training and coach staff effectively.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based practice.
What you will do:
• Support schools to set high expectations which inspire, motivate and
challenge pupils.
• Advise schools on the development of Individual Development Plans
(IDPs), provision maps and person-centred planning.
• Work with schools and parents/carers to resolve issues and concerns.
• Participate in Performance Management and any relevant development
programmes
• Attend team meetings, as appropriate
• Attend panels (PIP, behaviour consultation and EYPIP)
