OVERVIEW
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and skilled Deputy Head Teacher to join our progressive and happy school. The right candidate for this deputy headship will have at least 5 years' experience teaching and leading a subject, key stage or year group, a proven track record who can plan strategically, the ability to motivate and inspire a varied team of teachers and support staff in new strategies to improve teaching and learning over the whole school.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Support the Head in delivery of the school vision, for all learners
  • Lead the school in the absence of the Headteacher for assemblies and management decisions.
  • Drive school improvement through thorough self-evaluation processes, particularly in the curriculum
  • Take ownership of evidencing our improvement of outcomes for all learners
  • Provide useful reports for Governors
  • Have responsibility for report writing, a willingness to engage in GDPR and regulatory compliance agendas
  • Manage and motivate the support team, including TAs, lunchtime staff and all support staff
  • Work closely with Phase Leaders and Subject Co-ordinators to enrich and improve curriculum planning across all subjects and year groups

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL
  • Be a genuinely kind and caring person who exemplifies our school motto
  • Have a genuine interest in education and a drive to bring continuous improvement
  • Hold as a minimum, a B.ED or B.A & PGCE or equivalent & have at least 5 years' experience in teaching and leadership
  • Have a full understanding of processes involving children in care, child protection and safeguarding and be committed to working in partnership
  • Have excellent understanding of ALN - the school includes an STF. The DHT will be expected to be part of the ALN team
  • Have experience working with multi-agencies in relation to ALN
  • Have a clear understanding of Safeguarding within schools
  • Have an innovative and creative approach
  • Be committed to high standards of teaching and learning and the professional development of staff
  • Have high expectations that motivate, support and challenge teachers and students alike.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be highly IT literate
  • Have confident understanding and communicating data in relation to pupils' progress
  • Have knowledge of school MIS, e.g. Bromcom
