The Governing Body wish to appoint a Temporary Teaching Assistant (Level 3) from September 2026 until July 2027.

The children, staff and Governors at Treorchy Primary School seek to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and highly motivated teaching assistant to join our school community. Applicants need to be able to demonstrate a proven excellent ability and be committed to contributing to a rich and creative curriculum that meets the learning needs of all of our learners, enabling all to reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will:
  • Work with the Teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupil’s work.
  • Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required, to the Teacher on pupil achievement, progress and issues, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence.
  • Undertake on behalf of the Teacher accurate marking of pupils work and record achievement progress.
  • Promote positive values, attitudes and good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy, encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behavior.
  • Liaise sensitively and effectively with parents/guardians/carers as agreed with the Teacher/Senior Support staff and participate in feedback sessions with parents/guardians/carers under the direction of the Teacher/Senior Support staff.
  • Under the direction of the Teacher/Senior Support staff prepare and clear equipment and areas, including the outdoor classroom environment, utilised in the provision of a foundation curriculum.
  • Prepare and replenish equipment/resources for pupils i.e. whiteboard pens, pencils, rulers etc. and assist pupils in their use
  • Facilitate a safe and challenging learning environment wherever the activities take place
  • To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person as soon as they arise.
  • To be responsible for your own continuing self-development and to participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
  • To carry out health and safety responsibilities in accordance with the School’s Health & Safety Responsibilities document.
  • Provide specialist support through learning activities for pupils
