Overall job purpose
Provide system wide leadership for high quality ALN across sensory, medical, physical, and communication and interaction needs, shaping the Local Authority's strategy through a clear vision and collaborative working with schools and partners. The role advances the ambition to become a Trauma Informed Island, promotes consistent person centred IDPs, and ensures parents are supported at every stage. It builds confident practice by managing staff performance and development, overseeing workloads and timetables, and offering practical operational guidance, while maintaining a visible presence in classrooms to observe, model, and monitor what works. The post coordinates specialist centres and specialist teacher input to the ALN Forum and, through the Risk Assessments Officer, provides responsive advice and support to schools and settings. In partnership with the Principal Psychologist and the ALN Quality Assurance Officer, it translates Forum recommendations into delivery, develops and adapts specialist work packages and training, assures quality across central, mainstream, and specialist provision, and oversees reporting, data accuracy, INSET, and ongoing service development

Salary: Teacher's pay scale plus ALN2 allowance worth £5,595 + TLR1B worth £10,354
