Dyscalculia Practitioner (To work within the Speech, Langauge and Literacy Outreach Team)
Wrexham Council
Salary: £31,683
About the RoleWe are excited to be recruiting for a Dyscalculia Specialist Practitioner to support schools across Wrexham in improving outcomes for learners with significant and persistent mathematical learning difficulties. This new role isgrant funded until the end of March 2027 and offers a rare opportunity to shape high‑quality, evidence‑based provision for numeracy and dyscalculia across the county.
Please note that whilst the attached job description is written for the Speech, Language and Literacy Practitioner role, this post mirrors the same structure, responsibilities and expectations, but with a specialist focus on maths, numeracy development and dyscalculia. Therefore, the successful candidate should hold a relevant Level 5 or Level 7 Dyscalculia qualification and be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of dyscalculia and mathematical learning difficulties.
In this role, you will carry out assessments, plan and deliver targeted interventions, model effective strategies in classrooms, and work closely with teachers, ALNCos and support staff to embed sustainable, inclusive maths practice. You will also play a key role in building school capacity through training, coaching and the development of practical resources that strengthen early identification and support for learners with dyscalculia.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about improving numeracy outcomes, committed to inclusive education, and eager to make a meaningful difference across Wrexham's schools. If you would like to find out more, please contact [email protected] (Service lead).
The Council welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates regardless of race, gender, disability, sexuality, religious belief or age
The Council is committed to developing its bilingual workforce and welcomes applications from candidates who demonstrate their capability to work in both English and Welsh. Applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English
