A post has arisen for a flexible and enthusiastic Family Engagement Officer to work at Ty Gwyn Education Centre, the busy, friendly pupil referral unit in Aberdare with another setting at Ty Castan in Pontypridd.
The focus of the post will be to continue to improve attendance and engagement amongst this group of hard to reach learners, supporting the child and the family to overcome barriers to attendance. This includes working with children who may be at home, to encourage them to attend, supporting them in school, offering help and access to support services for families also. There is a requirement to work across the main site at Ty Gwyn and the site at Ty Castan where the Tuition Services are based and make some home and community visits as this includes pupils who come into the group tuition setting and those who access tuition at home.
There is a requirement to work closely with the RCT Attendance and Welfare Service (AWS) to manage improvements in attendance across the service. There will also be a level of administration work such as letter and report writing, including at times using and creating applications in Bromcom (the school information management system) and providing reports and data to the Head of Centre, the local authority and Ty Gwyn’s governors.
You will be a role model, a lifelong learner who is willing to undertake further professional development and a trusted responsible figure. You will be supporting and guiding children and young people to make positive choices and engage in learning and you will be fully supported in your role to develop personally and professionally.
Ty Gwyn Education Centre continues to succeed in terms of good standards of teaching and learning, wellbeing and social development of learners and improved external examination results.
